The involvement of parents in the school to post-school planning process for students with disability is a key factor for a successful transition into adult life. When we asked our Ticket to Work participants that have had successful transition into employment, 80% have stated that their greatest support has been their families.
However, many parents report that they do not have the knowledge or skills to support their child’s transition as they lack confidence in this role. For parents of students with disability there is often no clear pathway; and there are little examples or role models to show what is possible.
Becoming an adult is a huge transition for both parents and their child. The below resources are to assist parents plan and support their children to achieve a meaningful, fulfilling adult life that is uniquely theirs.
